Question Moving Rabbits?

Hey, just a question for my furture. I'm going to be moving up to Dundee next year for uni and I will be hopefully getting a flat and taking my animals. I will be returning to home every now and again for a weekend and xmas etc. Not every month probably but now and again. Would it be cruel of me to take my rabbits (I am thinking of getting a second rabbit in the following months so Rini would be traveling with company) on the trip with me and keep them in a little holiday cage down here for the weekend before moving back up to Dundee? And can you take a pet carrier on a train? Or is there another way you could travel back with your pets (not really wanting to take them on a plane tho).

Re: Moving Rabbits?

Thats not cruel at all, I know a lot of people that take their buns with them for holidays
And yes you can travel on a train with pet carriers, my Rascal travelled on the train all the way from Ripon to Cambridge (not by her self obviously )

Aww well thats good to hear ^.^ I'm hoping she does take to a friend (when I get round to thinking of getting her one) as traveling with another would be alot less stressful for her and she does stress on trips abit

Re: Moving Rabbits?

I took Miffy home at the end of every term, she was fine however I had to be careful of the heat in the summer and surround her with cool water bottles. I have never taken her on the train tho, they can be loud with the announcements, hot/cold, smelly, dogs and you'd have to take her to the loo with you. It would be much better if you could catch a lift either from your parents or normally from someone else going your way. good luck finding a flat that will take a rabbit, I found it a real nightmare, I would start looking asap

Re: Moving Rabbits?

I have looked for flats in my price range but havent phoned any yet. They are all unfunished and some didnt even have carpets so I dont see why they wouldnt allow it. Also I have a plus of having lived all my life in a rental house and we've had lots of pets with no complaints so I can get a reference from our landlord (which can often sway landlords who wouldnt normally allow pets) and from our neighbour!
Hopefully things will go fine ^.^ I'll probably get a lift up there when I move in, it's just I wouldnt expect a lift each time as my mam doesnt drive, my dad works away and my auntie has her job and her own life lol

LOL - I was just imagining a bunny boarding a train alone and sitting at a train table behind a broadsheet in a business suit. And I haven't been drinking!
