Blankets

Hades is currently playing in the living room digging and rearranging a fleecey blanket. I've noticed he also chews it, can this harm him? I've seen a few people post on here they have blankets like this for their buns.

Re: Blankets

Sometimes I'm surprised that George doesn't get gut problems from the things he eats. I give them the loo roll tubes to play with over night and by morning I find they've completely disappeared so obviously eaten it. The yellow pages they were given to shred is being shredded but I'm not finding any of the paper they've torn out so again thats being eaten.

As long as they have plenty of the right stuff to eat (lots and lots of hay) then it doesn't cause any problems and just goes through them. I don't think blankets are as digestable as paper though so I would keep an eye on how much they do ingest, if it seems to be a lot then take the blankets away but the odd bit won't hurt much as long as your still seeing them poo healthy. Lots of fibre will help stuff pass through them so hay hay hay!

Thank you all for putting my mind at ease. He seems to love rearranging the blanket so I'm glad I don't necessarily have to take it away

Ember loves nothing more than to dig at a blanket and move it around to make the perfect bed to lay on. Its become a game for us that I'll sit with her and move a bit of the blanket that she's arranged so she has to do it again.
