Last night!

Last night!
Well 2am to be precise!

I woke with a start to the sound of a 'dog' whimpering, at first I thought it was our dog but quickly realised it was coming from outside,

I stuck my head out of the window and shone the torch (a permanent fixture of the bedroom windowsill) towards the hutches, I could clearly hear something scratching at wood so ran downstairs to go outside and kill the midnight creature

Half way down the stairs I had the fright of my life ...holy sh1t!!! I shouted as I came face to face with my son..He'd snook down for food cuz he couldn't sleep! so I made him be my bodyguard for my quest!

When I got to M&M they had clearly had a fright, the food bowl and litter tray were completely turned over and everywhere was a tip!, meanwhile the scratching was still going on but I now knew it was coming from next door...so back upstairs ........and my bodyguard went to bed????

Back at the window with the torch and the scratching was getting really bad, it was obvious by now this was a young fox stuck between next doors fence and greenhouse, where there was also wood and pots and stuff stored, by now it was 2:30 and the fox was still stuck ...but then there was a mad scrabble and the fox got free and ran off.

I went back down to check on my lovelies, M&M were all of a dither, Colin had a look which said ..Fox?...what fox??.. and Cilla was just munchin
I rolled back into bed at 2:42 and couldn't sleep for listening!
I was like a Zombie at work, and I'm hoping for a good sleep tonight?

A bit of a pointless thread really, but I thought I'd share

Re: Last night!

Scary! Glad the buns were okay. A fox took a bun from a neighbouring street this summer - 10pm on a Saturday evening. They found the poor bun in another garden, his life taken. So sad. So glad yours are ok. x

It was actually in a run and the owner got carried away doing a job - it was light. And their other bun, a baby lop, has bad teeth so they've had no luck...

Theres no such thing as too urban for foxes! I live in Lond, you can't get more urban than that and I see foxes practically everyday during daylight hours.

Indeed, it appears they are everyone. One crossed a busy main road in front of my car in broad daylight in my local town around 3pm one weekday afternoon! It appeared to be going to the town library! Perhaps it was looking for Fantastic Mr Fox?
