Should 14 week old bun still suckle mum
We bought Rosie along with her mum Teddy 6 weeks ago. They are sharing a hutch and get along great. The thing is that Rosie is now 14 weeks old and although she eats food, hay & treats she is still suckling Teddy. Teddy doesn't seem to mind but I don't know if maybe she is to old to still be doing this. Any advice ? Would I have to separate them or will Teddy let her know when she's had enough.

Re: Should 14 week old bun still suckle mum
How much space have they got? normally rabbits are fully weaned by 8 weeks and start eating solids at 4 weeks. are you sure you were sold a rabbit with the correct age?

Re: Should 14 week old bun still suckle mum
Rosie had already been weaned and seperated from her Mum when we bought her but she had no siblings left so the breeder let us buy her mum as well as we had wanted 2 rabbits as company for each other. When we put them in the pet carrier together to bring them home Rosie immediately recognised her mother and when under her to suckle. Although Rosie has been eating a regular rabbit diet of hay, pellets and grass she was also suckling her mother in the evening. Now speaking in the past tense as I only realised on Friday afternoon Rosie is more of a Robert its a little boy bunny ! He has been seperated from his mother since.
