I want a bunny

I'm after getting my first bunny at the ripe age of 28 lol. I'm looking for something small - a mini lop or a netherland dwarf. Any advice?

Does anyone have a picture of their adult mini lop so I can see how big they grow?

Thanks xx

A mini lop may be more chilled out that a Nethy. But Nethies are okay with adults - they're not always ideal with kids. My friend breeds mini lops.

I love lops the best (but maybe I'm biased cos I have 2!!) But I think they have the more chilled temperaments than Nethies. And make sure you get two cos buns love company and seeing the two of them together you'll never get a single bun again. Look at the pic of my two - they spend all their time like this and it's just soooo cute.

Yup mini lops are great I have one. This is my Saffy...

Though the most tolerant of my 3 year old and who follows me round like a puppy is my Jet. Not sure what he is exactly...neither does vet...but he is twice the size and possible 3 times the weight of her but with the lop ears! Think he is french lop cross.

I must admit Im a sucker for a lop! They are just sooooo cute! How big does an adult mini lop grow? I've seen some of the french lops and they seem huge!

More lop pics please

Jemma - Where does your friend live? If possible I want to buy a bunny from a breeder

Re: I want a bunny

I would suggest getting two rabbits for company. I have two females and it's great to see them interact and groom each other. They'd be lost without each other.

As for breeds, I think Smoke Pearls are beautiful. They have an amazing temperament and make lovely pets. I know someone in the North East of England who breeds them.

Moorcroft Stud

There is also a breed selector on her site, may be worth a look.

Why dont you consider getting a bonded pair from a rescue. They will usually be neutered and vacinated too! You may even be able to get a couple of very young or baby rabbits from a rescue, not always adults. X
