Grrrrr at the vets... AGAIN!!

I took Oliver to the vets today to have his nails trimmed...

Hos nails are awful. Since i got him, they have always been a problem. When i first brought him home, they were overgrown and since then, they have grown sideways

Anyways....

The vet (who was a locum) said that i should take better care of him and said that he will need to see the condition of my other rabbits, before making a formal complaint

I flipped!

I couldnt believe what he just said

I asked for the other vet to come in (the one who has always done Olivers feet) and told her what he said. She said he was way out of order to say that as it's not my fault and has made a complaint about him

She said i am not the first person he had upset that day

Re: Grrrrr at the vets... AGAIN!!

I hate when vets jump to conclusions like that when they don't even know you. Its the reason I made sure I saw the same vet with Daisy each time because of the state she was in with urine burn and how thin she was, I could have easily been seen as neglecting her by someone who doesn't know me or the other rabbits.

One of Rosie's nails grows sideways so it has to be trimmed regularly but all the others are normal and wear down themselves with her running around. It grows sideways because the whole toe is twisted. Last year she managed to catch it on something in the garden when she was digging to made a dust bath to roll in and it tore the ligament on the side of one of her toes. Now that the toe has healed it isn't straight as it repaired itself the wrong way. It doesn't affect her in the slightest and because its just a toe theres no point trying to fix it with an op as long as she's happy.

Rini is on a distinguished road
Re: Grrrrr at the vets... AGAIN!!

Oh my god, how unprofessional and judgemental! I would have punched him! lmao
It just shows that people can be so quick to judge you and the way you look after your animals without knowing anything about your situation.
I hope you never have to be seen by him again.

I do have to say that my vets have never judged me. I have had a couple problems with past rabbits that have resulted in them needing put down. I was really scared about taking them to the vets incase they thought I was a bad owner and hadnt looked after them properly. But they were things that happened so quickly that I really couldnt do anything. And gladfully my vet never once blamed me.
I guess thats why now, I spoil Rini compared to my past rabbits (especially since she is my first indoor rabbit) and I get so guilty when she gets something wrong with her or she decides to be a moody brat that day and not like to be bothered, incase it was something I did... even tho it wasn't, it's just her being a teen.
I blame myself for everything that happens to my animals. So I really get annoyed when people question some way I look after them.

I hope they do something about the vet tho, since there will be a complaint put in about him. If you werent the only one he upset then he doesnt sound very good :/
