rabbit skin problems

Hi we have a large lop who is white and tan and my wee girl just noticed that on most of his brown spots he has very dry spots where the skin is very flaiky there are a few spots like this and when I had a look he seemed quite happy to let me have a look so I dont think its hurting him just wondered if anyone had any ideas.

Cheers
Andy

Re: rabbit skin problems

You need to take him to the vets for a skin scrapping to see what it is, most likely to be mites.

Re: rabbit skin problems

Yes it does sound like mites. The vets will usually take some flakes away on some sellotape and look at them under a miscroscope- they'll then be able to tell you. Its best to make sure it is mites before treatment.

Lottie has had flaky patches in the past that weren't mites and she was given some cream so it could be that too but the only way to know is to look under a microscope
