Smile Chicken with pooly feet

Hi,
I am new to keeping chickens and have recently acquired 2 pekin bantams. They are great however they do have very scabby white looking feet. One of them also has what look like painful red splits on top of the scabby feet! I am not sure what to do to help them.....any suggestions please....????

Hi, ordinary Vaseline is good to put moisture back into their skin and also kill off any scaley leg mites that may be causing the problem.

Vaseline is a good idea but for dealing with scaley leg mite I'd use a gentle preparation for dealing with head lice and scabies, such as Benzyl Benzoate or Derbac M Liquid.

Paint it on their legs leave 24 hours, wash off and then continue with vaseline on a regular basis.

Some people will suggest white spirit for scaley leg, but if you want to use this method, first rub white spirit into a few cuts you have and when it hurts like hell you'll know how your chooks feel.
