lost feathers on a khaki campbell

hi we have had our two girls for about a month now and they are our first campbells we have had when i colected them the prev owner said that they were moulting so though nothing of it
but yesterday it started to loose all the feathers on both of its wings it seams it that it is limited to to the end of wings as in what u would see when wings are folded
i am trying to work out if this is the norm but im thinking not????? any ideas please i have given new bedding and have seen the ducks cleaning them selfs
i have 4 other ducks i have seen no sign of bullying or pecking of feathers or any aggressive behaiour from any of them they have gone from just being the two of them to a flock of up to 8 ducks but at the moment its down to 5 they upto last night have always bedded down in the house that they were collected with so im trying to rule out stress as they have not forced to be in a house they are not knowing please help my girl !!!!!

Re: lost feathers on a khaki campbell

Sounds like molting to me - they loose all their feathers including their flight ones, some molt later than others and some take a bit longer to grow them back, leaving them looking like they have been dragged through a hedge backwards!!!

No she should be fine, unless she is half bald and decided to molt all her feathes in one go!, then her layer of fat and down will keep her warm even if her feathers are still coming through, unless it drops to minus 20 odd and a bald duck then I'd bring her in!!! I give mine extra corn at this time of year to put a good layer of fat on them to help through any serious weather which we often get in Cumbria!!!
