Sounds like molting to me - they loose all their feathers including their flight ones, some molt later than others and some take a bit longer to grow them back, leaving them looking like they have been dragged through a hedge backwards!!!

No she should be fine, unless she is half bald and decided to molt all her feathes in one go!
, then her layer of fat and down will keep her warm even if her feathers are still coming through, unless it drops to minus 20 odd and a bald duck then I'd bring her in!!! I give mine extra corn at this time of year to put a good layer of fat on them to help through any serious weather which we often get in Cumbria!!!![]()
