Chickens are very sensitive to change and can die of shock quite easily, but this sounds as if as you say she had a anurism. You must be in terrible shock, how are the others coping without her? My chickens have their certain freinds who they hang out with and snuggle together.
I am sad for your loss and having loved my chickens and have them die I know the devistation this brings. Amanda ![]() |

Sorry you lost your chook! Yes they can have heart attacks, I had some jersey giants and the cockerel was just walking across the orchard to go in to roost and he just dropped on the spot while I was waiting for him, he was only a year old!! I found another of my chooks - a 3yr old maran hen who was just sunbathing, when the others got up to see what I'd brought out for them she didn't get up and looked like she was asleep in the sunbathing pose - you know stretched out with her wing out - she was dead as a door nail!!! - not a bad way to go I suppose!!

no it isnt, thanks for reply, it was so strange, they have plenty of room in the house and run and the weather has cooled down, mind you we lost a guinea pig in the hsat, found the lad dead in his run, I know g. pigs can have heart attacks, had one years ago.
