Limping Chicken

Our 1yr chicken has been broody for the first time when we got her out we noticed she was limping. My son thought it was excess scales and we have used some cream which have made her feet and legs lovely. She is well in herself and eating/drinking but seems to be walking really strange. She moves her legs in an exaggerated lifting motion.

Could this be connected to being broody and sitting down for long periods of time?

Re: Limping Chicken

Could be as they do get stiff from being broody, also could be leg mites if she has what looks like extra thick scales on her legs. Also do you have a cockerel? - often the cockerels are super interested in broody's when they get up to get their daily food and drink and often get too rough with them, so she could have hurt her leg then.

Re: Limping Chicken

Thanks for replies. No we re homed our cockerel a little while ago. The cream really has helped and encouraging her to walk about more has proven a good thing.
