Treats for Chooks

I have been reading up on the internet on what you can and can't give to chickens for treats, but any info from PF would be great!

Re: Treats for Chooks

LOL, just replied in your other thread!

We give ours grapes (cut in to pieces) which they LOVE. Also tomatoes, pears, apples & dried corn on the cobs which we hang up so they can peck on them

Re: Treats for Chooks

watery veg like cuecumber aint no good for them

some people say raw spuds aint any good for them mine have them and they are fine its down to you at the end of the day

you dont want to give them to many treats as they are just like kids they wont eat the proper food and plus they are no good for them and can make them fat

mine are on layers amsh they have this mixed in with veg peelings that get boiled up and then mashed then they have the mash mixed with that

ona afternoon evening they will get a scattering of of mixed corn so they can have scrath about

once a week they will get live meal worms they are great for protine

they will also eat the grass than they get a cabbage hundg so they can peck at that as and when they want it

make sure they have a supply of grit aswell this help with digestion help with the egg sheels and helps stop the crop getting inpacted

they will eat pretty much anything you give them even meat raw or cooked makes no diffrence to them

just mnake sure they get wormed regular and they fresh water at all times and they will be fine
