New duckling!! Please help!!

i have a baby duck who was accidently hatched by a dog, it was almost out but the dog ate the rest of egg i got it it wa very cold but still alive iv put it strait on heat and so far he is all good apart from he quite weak and cant stand although its all dry now. i wondered if there is any info out there to try and give him the best start in life, i know its not looking good but so far he seems a little fighter please help if you can.

Hi Claire,
One of your main problems is going to be that the egg contains lots of nutrients that the duckling still carries on absorbing before completely emerging from the egg. We had a very weak duckling last year and were told that if you soft-boil an egg and mash up a bit of the yolk for the duckling to eat, this can substitute some of the nutrients that were contained in the egg.
I know it's difficult seeing them so weak but don't give up, they can be a lot tougher than you think and he may perk up over the next few days. Just make sure he is warm and is drinking and there is not much more that you can do. Also, you should try to avoid handling him at this stage.
