Ducks

Hey there,
im new on here but not new to having ducks. I have recently brought two abacot rangers to go with my 3 indian runners and 2 aylesbury ducks. 1 of the indian runners is a male. The other two and the 2 aylesbury ducks are female. However i brought the Abacot rangers unsexed but on research of the breed they look to be female. What im really asking is why is my male indian runner grabbing the neck of my two abacot rangers. I thought it may well be to say im boss but he is persistantly doing it. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know.
Many Thanks
Luke

Re: Ducks

the males do grab the necks before they jump on and mate. Do you have a pond? That makes mating easier. How old are the Abacots? Are they too young to be mated yet if they are females?

Re: Ducks

I am a breeder of Abacots and Yes they are could infact provoke the runners, he could be marking territory but also maybe mating, If ever you females begin to change to a male like Head colour how they quack colour etc except the genitalia then this is not abnormal as my best show birds have both become male in their charateristics
