What Do You Think Of This Coop?

I am getting chickens and was wondering what people think of the coop I am considering. Do you think it'd be fox-proof?

Re: What Do You Think Of This Coop?

It's not very big and will very soon wreck the ground as it looks hard to move? Are you putting it on a concrete foundation so that foxes can't dig underneath?

Re: What Do You Think Of This Coop?

As the above poster has already said! depends what you are putting it on! if you are placing it on soft ground you will need wire a good depth down to keep out Mr Fox!

Don't know a lot about the subject! BUt!! have seen betters coops!

Re: What Do You Think Of This Coop?

You would be much better off if you can build something onto your shed. This is what we have after the fox got mine.

This is the unfinished house. We haven't took any final pics yet

The nest box is in the shed. We cut a hole in the shed wall. It works really well. We are building another one up the garden so we can rotate the living areas

Re: What Do You Think Of This Coop?

Okay, great. That's a real help.
We're buying a cheap shed and adding a run with a floor, so Mr Fox can't get in.

Re: What Do You Think Of This Coop?

I have this coop for my 2 ducks, it is great as I have put it on concrete and they have the run of the garden all day, when they are tired they put themselves to bed, this is great if your only keeping 2 ducks/hens etc ... as I have a high fence and wall we dont get much hassle from foxes or cats, esp as I have 2 dogs too..

Re: What Do You Think Of This Coop?

We used to use sheds but we noticed that rats were burrowing underneath and chewing in through the wood, so keep an eye on things.

Nice one sarasquares
