good question, you'll get ur best laying period in the first 12 months . After about 3/4 years they will start to slow down a lot more. You should expect a couple of years of decent laying from a good hen, depending upon the breed as well.

some of my LS are in their 3rd year and they are still laying strong.I also have some x battery that are coming up 5 yrs old and they are giving me around 5 eggs a week each
