Unhappy call duck distressed!

Hello! Anyone know about call ducks? My female has lost her mate Jimmy to a pesky fox and now she is really distraught. She is fairly tame and responds to me talking to her, but is visibly shaking and squawking (loudly) for her mate a lot. So I went and bought her another mate, thought it would be fine, but it isn't. She has not taken to her new mate and is still squawking for Jimmy! I can understand her being upset but will she eventually take to her new mate? I have shut them away together in the hope they may form a bond, but can still hear her now and again. She's not going to become so distressed she dies is she? Will they hook up eventually? Thanks for any help!
