Duck problem
We have 3 call ducks and a call drake, they are 7 months old and yesterday the drake became quite vicious with one of the ducks. It's not an attempt at mating, we have seen that. He appears to be trying to drown her, but he bites her and chases her all the time. She is keeping her distance, but appears distressed. We have put him in a pen, as they normally free range over about a third of an acre. Any advice or suggestions would be great. Thanks

Re: Duck problem
we've had this problem with our male. I wasn't sure if he was trying to mate or drown her. We have 3 females and 1 male. One male and female have paired up and constantly chase away the other 2 smaller female. They are chased out of the garden and not allowed in the pond. I hope it settles down or we might have to get rid of 2 of them. I'll monitor your replies to see if you get any suggestions

Re: Duck problem
Hi Worthington, We gave up after a week and took the drake to a friend of ours who breeds call ducks. We watched him mingle with the rest of the flock, which included 3 of his brothers, and he seems to have settled in. We now have a peaceful garden again with just 3 ducks and 6 chickens. People on another forum were convinced it was a mating thing but I am sure it wasn't. Hope you get sorted, living the good life can be hard a times. Good luck
