runner ducks to join a flock

hi im not sure if you can help ,but any advice is welcomed we have two runner ducks (male and female we think) that we got in febuary not sure how old they were but they still had duckling feathers on them when we picked them up they were in a flock of mixed ducks , this saturday we got two female campbell ducks and our runners stayed away from them and on sunday (6/11) we got 3 runners and three other ducks that we are still trying to work out what bread they are ,they came as a flock , my runners refused to socialise with them we put all in a large duck house but when checked on them this eve the two runners shot out , im worried about them being picked on and hurt , do u know if u can get a flock to accept them and cisa versa or am i over reacting ????

thank u paul

Re: runner ducks to join a flock

I wouldn't worry they will eventually sort themselves out and work out their pecking order, your ducks are probably just rather nervous of all these new strangers. As long as you have a shed big enough for them all they will keep out of each others way - you may get the odd drake fight in breeding season but at this time of year it's ideal to put new ducks together. What you might find is they pair off with different ducks as time goes by - I had a trio of call ducks once and then got some campbells, the call duck drake ditched his 2 girls after a week and ran off with a campbell duck who didn't like him and he would spend hours trying to keep up with her on his short little legs!!!

They will sort them selves out.
