Slugs....

hello I am not normally on this part of forum as i dont have poultry myself. My neighbour has 6 chickens that I love and have just been picking up slugs from my garden to give them tomorrow for chicks to eat. Was just wondering will the slugs suffocate in the sealed ice-cream tub I have put them in for the night?? If they do will it matter to the chickens to be fed dead slugs??

Re: Slugs....

Think it would depend on the size of tub and how many slugs you have in there, time will tell I suppose. My chooks won't eat slugs at all, bit miffed actually as I thought I would get rid of some of them, obviously my girls have taste.

Re: Slugs....

Well they survived two nights in the tub and were quickly devoured by my neighbours chooks as soon as they were given lol. It was brilliant for my garden have only seen a handful of slugs since I filled the tub half up lol.

Re: Slugs....

  1. Get a nice fresh kettle of boiling water.
  2. Pour on the slugs.
  3. Leave for five minutes.
  4. Drain and allow to cool for ten minutes.
  5. Serve to the chickens.
