hatching day

well tomorrow is the day when our derbyshire redcap bantams should hatch. have faithfully turned, talked to them night and morning, ensured they had water in the bottom, (reminds me must check), not used an incubator for years so am hoping I have done things right.

Another bantam is broody, so have 9 eggs under her, isnt life thrilling.

pony is recovering well from her laminitus, and I have made a pizza for lunch.

what more can anyone ask

sorry mods went off the subject of poultry, if its in the wrong place apologies

Re: hatching day

ta puppy love, the bantie is sitting tight again, we have barricaded her off now so the others cant get off her, we tried moving her with the eggs and she wouldnt sit originally, so put her back, I found 2 other eggs under her so I think the others pushed her off, poor love, I really did swear at her, as for the others, well, dont know, my daughter did a drawing of where they were in the incubator and it appears they have moved, but dont know if thats cause people are going up and down stairs ( its is on the dresser in the upstairs hall) its now the 24th day, anyone for omlette LOL

Re: hatching day

no chicken run cant hear cheeping but can hear tapping in one or two, darent move too many of them as I have been told you shouldnt touch them when they are due to hatch - some of them def have moved

Re: hatching day

Oh right hopefully thats a good sign then.

Im not really sure about chickens as i have only incubated chicken eggs once and that was 3weeks ago and only got 4 hatch out of 12, they were lemon millefluer sablepoots.
My silkie hatched out some the same time and my other silkie has just gone broody so eggs going under her tomorrow night.

What is the humidity on i had mine on 55% which is what my mate told me to do on the last 3days.

Re: hatching day

dont know what th humidity was dont understand that the only thing I have is a thermometer and watr int he bottom tray. I listened tonight and there doest appear to be any noise from any of them so maybe I didnt do things right and they died As I understood all I had to do was make sure the tmp was stable and with warm water in the bottom.
