ducks gone to bed mad!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,new to duck keeping had my babies a couple of weeks now my lil girls laying really well and have now started to find her eggs are being hidden under the straw after a bit of a bumpy start and laying nothing for 7 days.
i decided to use their coop/house that they came with and what they have been used to as i felt they would be happier and feel more at home which too be honest wasnt quite big enough for them so today i decided to sort out something larger for them, well they were very interested in what was going on until bed time,i had major ttemper tantrums from all found it a little strange like going back to their first night the same duck last in as with the first night. hope im forgiven in the morning!!!! bless them

Re: ducks gone to bed mad!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello again

Ducks/poultry are like that they get used to where there going to bed.
They will be fine after a few days.
It like if you move the house to the other end of the garden they will go to where there house used to be and look all puzzled

Re: ducks gone to bed mad!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi i had heard that change is not that welcome with duck it was like being ripped back a couple of weeks, they seem to be none the worse for it think im forgiven ha ha, im thinking ahead to be honest and slowly trying to get things done ready for the winter i know we are a bit off yet, well hopefully. but my lil girl last in and did she throw a temper tantrum but i just couldnt bear them in the housing they were in it really wasnt enough but now much more room ive looked at coop hutched ect but decided to build that way you get exactly what you want so it all a work in progess at the mo. but they seem quite chilled out and happy today so its all good.

Re: ducks gone to bed mad!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad they are happy today

I have two 6week old ducklings that have just gone in the garden and when they have to go bed i have to chase them around the garden and catch them untill they realise they just need to follow the adults at bedtime as its all new to them.

My ducks have 8ft by 6ft shed to sleep in, split in two one side for the crested balis and other side for the cayugas, and above them i have a big wooden box without a lid for the 2 ducklings im keeping till they get bigger then go on floor in another separate pen.
