Exclamation Will you help me save birds' lives??

Hi everyone,

I am new on this forum, this is my first post here.
I have kind of joined this forum to seek your help...

I am saving some battery chickens, rescued by a charity who are going to get 'destroyed' 'wasted' otherwise since they are not needed. I have not yet recieved them but they will be getting to me very soon. They are unwanted because some are perhaps weak or stopped laying.

Only problem is that I do not have a chicken coop/enclosure to keep them in. I have a big garden for them to roam around in free during the day, but for the night they no place. We are talking about 3-5 hens.

Now question to you is, can you help me out?
I cannot afford an expensive coop.

Is there anyone on this forum who has an old chicken coop/dog run or even an old used shed that they can donate for the chickens? Anyone with chicken wire and wooden slabs?

With time and money short (as I am a full-time student), I am very concerned (I am doing this mainly on my own).

I would be more than happy to pick it up from you in Surrey and Essex.
Please help me out, without a home these beautiful birds will be wasted.

Thanks a lot.

Re: Will you help me save birds' lives??

We have just rehomed x3 ex-battery chicken & they are doing brilliantly. Unfortunately I can't help you out with any stuff as we used all ours converting a shed for them.

Maybe check on your local freecycle pages or even ring round some fencing companies in your area (when they install new fencing they usually remove old panels so may just give you some of these to use). Ring round a few places & ask if they have any off cuts - you would be suprised how many things you can blag. we did this when we had an allotment.

Good luck with your girls
