Chicken Breeder nr Downham Market

I'm hoping to get some chickens soon - in the process of fencing off an area & building a coop.

My idea was to get x2 ex-battery hens & a Gold Brahma Cockerel & hen - will this mix be ok?

I do want a few eggs but as there is just me & my OH am not expecting loads - I really love the look of the Brahmas & their temperament sounds lovely.

There are a few sites regarding rehoming ex-battery hens but what should I look for when selecting the Brahmas? Can anyone recommend a good breeder? I've never bought chickens before so want to make sure I get healthy birds from a reptuable source.

Thanks for any advice

If you could that would be great. Am so excited about getting them, I can't belive I managed to talk my OH round so easily.

Just hope the dogs learn to leave them alone don't go try to get in with them

Just looked at your sebiste - they are beautiful birds. The Gold Brahmas are stunning although Sproket is a beautiful aswell!

I would definitely want a cockerel, from what I've read they don't crow too loudly - is that right?

Re: Chicken Breeder nr Downham Market

Thankyou

The brahma cockerels have very low crows so tend not to sound so loud
although when they start to crow its a little higher till they fill out and get older......
The gold brahmas are the only colour I don't breed, I breed blues, blacks, splashes, darks, lemon pyles, buff columbians and hopefully blue buff columbian and columbian this year

and I have a few brahma boys at the moment looking for loving homes

Excellent - I have wanted a Brahma cockerel for ages now. Hopefully our chicken area will be secure by next week so will be able to come & have a look at what you have available
