People leaving on holidays...

I just don't get where people's brains have disappeared...

Again I read a newspaperarticle how a young woman left for a week's holiday abroad and left her cat home alone with no one taking care of it! A week without care! Sheesh...

Question Re: Ppl (eejits) leaving (their pets home-alone! while gone) on holidays...

didn;t U know that cats can open the tins these days with electric can-openers?

and they can scoop their own litter-box, too...

i agree - overnight, sure! a bloody WEEK? not on Ur nellie...
thats just careless. ANYthing can happen in a week solo...

jeez, i was gone for SIX hours at the E-R and came home to a flood! on my street...

i think the ever-so-self-sufficient kitty should pack bags, and find another human more interested in their kitty;s welfare.
(whistling Bye-Bye Blackbird whilst packing litter-box, scoop,...)

Re: People leaving on holidays...

I just joined a group on Facebook where they try to get a public list established (here in Finland) where all the people would be listed who have been given a court order not to keep pets. If there is no such list, how will people ever know to whom they are selling / giving puppies, kittens etc.

A brilliant idea in my mind...

This too makes me sooooo angry, there are quite a few people in this country that really shouldn't be having any pets or children at all , there seems to be alot of stories read in the papers about women (it seems to be females more so) who go off on holiday leaving either their kids or pets home alone to fend for themselves, Disgusting I say.

oh, Yes! love it, wonderful idea...
thanks so much, that is a terrific thought, leena, very simple but very effective.

-bustling off to collect recruits...- Thank you!

Re: People leaving on holidays...

I had a boss once who used to leave her two cats for a week at a time and there was no way you could persuade her it was neglect to plonk down a couple of boxes of dry food. Because there was a catflap she was convinced it was ok. In the end, the inevitable happened, one of her poor, very elderly cats disappeared never to be seen again.
