Gene protects brain-eaters from mad cow-type disease - Yahoo! News
this is important - as the disease is a PRION illness, and there have been no cures whatever for prion-type diseases. scrapie in sheep, Chronic-Wasting introduced into wild ungulates by a ?Utah? Colo? research-lab, mad-cow, variant Creutzfeld-Jakob, are ALL prion diseases. hopefully, this may prevent infection in wild + domestic animals, + save the white-tail deer, elk, and other ungulates that are now infected, exposed, or at-risk in (last count) FOURTEEN states in the USA... from one point-source, thanks to interstate commerce, Grrr!, and captive-herd sales of infected animals. these states are now *permanently infected* as the prions are in the soil and trapped / bound to clay-particles; absorbed by plants, the herbivores then ingest them. preventing the illness in deer + elk or any other species (beef, sheep...), will also save HUMANS who eat those animals. this is the first ray of hope that i have seen; i am praying it works! --- terry
