Lightbulb CALIF: sea-mammals demo anti-terrorist exercises

Navy-trained sea lions, dolphins participate in anti-terrorism training exercises - latimes.com

i have extremely-mixed emotions about this; i know they can do things we cannot dream of, but making animals
into weapons bothers me.
i recall the eejit idea of a dolphin wearing a spear to skewer enemy divers.
that died when a dolphin in training pursued the trainer with the skewer. oops...
back to the drawing-board.

the dolphin willingly self-stranding on the foam-mat of the training boat is fascinating.
how radically abnormal is that trained behavior? it's practically suicidal.

contrast that with folks who try to punish their dog into 'heel' position, & i feel very sad.
or handlers who can't teach a retriever to fetch - Oh, my.
