the lo-o-o-o-ong delay in ID of the source & attempted removal
EVEN WORSE - the FDA futzed about for FIVE months before Cargill began a recall - a voluntary recall:
Quote:
...it appears the outbreak "officially" began in March 2011, when a growing number of cases
of [I]Salmonella heidelberg were noted. However, the FSIS didn't issue a public warning until July 29, and even then
this was a broad statement about potential links with ground turkey. Questions are already being asked about the significant
time lag between the March detection of the spike in cases, the FSIS announcement in late July, & Cargill's
voluntary withdrawal in early August.

the fact that it's SOLD as 40# chubs means it is in many already-processed products, frozen, refrigerated,
pre-made convenience foods, bulk-package food service items like blended turkey sausage, burger-patties,
meatballs, as an ingredient in soups, stuffed into pasta, filling mushroom caps, anywhere - everywhere.
WAY OUT OF REACH of any 'recall' at this late date; they've been made, shipped, & in many cases, sold.
