It's Official: Roxy, abandoned, senior dog has been rescued and is safe

A story that seemed unbearably sad and somewhat hopeless has ended on a happy note. Roxy, an abandoned, senior dog in Los Angeles, CA, was sitting at a high kill shelter just a week ago.

Over the weekend, confirmation was received that this sweet girl had been safely pulled from the animal shelter. Roxy, recently tied to a pole and abandoned, is currently recovering from her spay surgery and enjoying recuperation time at a loving foster home.

The slideshow which has been included shows Roxy relaxing after her spay surgery. She is a bit groggy from the anesthesia in these photos, but the gratitude and affection in her expression is apparent.

Roxy's prior life consisted of her being repeatedly bred and living outdoors on a concrete patio. A sad, lonely life for a dog that has been described as extraordinarily sweet. She is most likely enjoying her first moments of comfort, love and attention.

Roxy will stay with her current foster provider in Los Angeles for several weeks. Once she is completely recovered from her surgery, she will be driven to San Francisco, CA where she will join the Bully Haven/Bad Rap Rescue.

Perhaps this lovely, older dog, will be adopted by a mature adult that is looking for an affectionate, quiet companion. Or, possibly a dog-loving family will be touched by Roxy's story and they will step up to offer their home and love to her. Roxy's needs are small at this stage of her life. She needs a soft bed, good food, and an owner to love her.

Thanks to the enormous outpouring of concern for Roxy, this abandoned senior dog is now safe and will be adopted to a loving family. A family that will love and care for her as a special living being, rather than a disposable commodity.

To everyone that took the time to cross-post Roxy's story, thank you. Your efforts made a difference in her life.
