really sorry suntree for not getting back to you have not been on this site for a while been so busy and with my holiday and all,try not to fuss around him so much changing his food all the time in order to make him eat is just naking him fussier as heknows if he leaves it you will of course go out and buy him more,of which you already doing thus giving him control over you, some dogs are good at the psychology bit,put him on a good nutrious dog food, mine all love butchers and winalot and then i mix it with complete food biscuits, take him out exercise him really work up a hunger put his food down and if he turns his nose up just walk away he will eat if he is hungry, try to stick to feeding him at a certain time of the day everyday so his body clock will begin to tell him it's dinner time just as ours does sometimes to entice a picky dog i will zap the food in a microwave to bring out the flavour as it is warm if your overly concerned and he looses too much weight then don't hesitate to see a vet hope this helps although a little too late

    Dear Poodle Mad,

Although my nickname is different, I totally share madness for these little adorable smarties.
I looked your account up in the picture gallery, and by name thought, you may be a right person to contact.

I have got my poodle puppy not that long time ago, at the beginning of March. Ever since I have been having problems with him eating. I have heard all poodles are a bit fussy about foods, however a person having experience in rising (and I suppose breeding them) probably have faced these problems and maybe can suggest cure to it.
Toffee never ate food I was advised to give by the breeder. He was quite small when we got him (smallest of all brothers, but my daughter wanted that particular one). I am sure he was pushed around quite a bit, for he was very spooky at the beginning. Now he gained his confidence, is playful and happy dog, except but eating.

I would not worry if he looked all right, but he is so skinny, that I probably could be accused of abusing my little boy. I have tried it all, you name. I spent already a fortune on different foods that finally ended in my boyfriends dogs' tummies. I bought Oscar, Orijen, Eukanuba, some fancy stuff form Zooplus allegedly of excellent taste for fussy dogs, different varieties of foods available in pet stores, tried raw, cooked, canned etc.
It is not like he is not eating at all but I have a feeling he is not eating enough. One day he seems to be OK with certain type of food, but the next day he would not even look to that direction.
The only food that he seems to eat is chicken legs, and still with them, he pretends it is not the type, however eats eventually.

I know to keep dog on one type of food is not good, and I am worried he will not get all nutrients he needs. I am not worried about him getting no grain (although sometimes he likes to eat oatmeal I make for my kids), but I believe he has to get some vedge.

Please could you possible have some advice for me?

Thank you very much in advance

    Toffees Mum

i hate when people cross breed dogs in my opinion. each to their own i suppose but i would never buy a cross bred dog! You don't know what health problems it would get as they get older or something. and you'd never understand their temperment generally too because they'd probably be a mixture

Hi sorry was it a bit info overload? I was looking at wikipedia on wed and the water spaniels looks like a spaniels poodle cross? And the really creepy thing is my bloke met a 12 wk old, Irish water spaniel! Which looked like a chocolate shaggy poodle with big floppy ears? I think they already crossed them?
