    Good news, slick!
thanks for the update, and also for the testimonial, that was very thoughtful and i appreciate it.
i am very glad to hear U have hands-on help, that is always best for any aggro or fear issues (and 85% of the time, aggro has roots in fear). i hope that this is a one-off of miscommunication, and Never Ever happens again. just remember *cornering*, looming, etc, are worrisome to dogs of all ages.
all my best to Ur wife, i hope she heals physically + emotionally with no scars!

Thought I at least owe you a testimonial. Had a bit of an issue when the family dog turned on my wife with what seemed like no motive. Seeing Terry's other posts lead me straight to him for advice and he certainly didn't disappoint. His answer and advice wasn't a spew of words on the screen but asked questions for more information before offering real tips and friendly advice which obviously came from experience and knowledge rather than the 'I've watched every episode of dog whisperer' qualification some members hold so dear. Not only has he given both my wife and I the confidence to work with our loving dog to keep it from happening again by explaining his actions in dog terms rather than human terms, but has played a big part in saving him from a rescue home. Unfortunately we don't have the money to ship him over from the US to help us face to face but have booked a local expert who I hope is just as good as this guy.

thanks for the > Click! <, gilly! :--)
U have me blushing, i appreciate the encouragement.

i was lucky, so long ago, to have a mentor who was *not!* typical of the day - even in the 60s, my teacher was Less Aversive than CM/DW, Pattison/End of my Leash, or DogBorstaL -- which is kinda shocking, really, and i think a great pity. :--(

IMO dogs (and their handlers...) deserve to *learn* in as low-stress + error-free a fashion as possible. i am sorry to say that a number of trainers have IMO gone backwards - punishment can only teach What *Not* To Do. that is a BIG List - What *to* Do is shorter, and it is more efficient + kinder to cut to the chase, and teach What We Want.
if the dog (and handler) master the desired behaviors, the Undesired ones become a moot point. much simpler - and more Fun!!

Just wanted to say I find all your posts interesting, informative and refreshing. It is a rare thing to find someone so eloquent in putting forward 'controversial' non dominance based techniques, especially at a time when so many people seem to be going back 20 years in dog training!! Do you have any books you recommend (or maybe you have written)? I have the Perfect Pup, Gwen Bailey and Oh Behave.

I don't think you're long winded at all - I think your replies are great and make a change from the usual Cesar worship on here.
