- I have owned 6 persians to date, always in pairs. Previous 4 all lived until they were 16 - 17. The first pair were the healthiest only being fed on coley and chicken, never any probs with their teeth or health. The 2nd pair were rescued and only ever ate biscuits, had almost all their teeth removed and the male had heart problems which in the end he succumbed to. The girl had PKD but it wasn't discovered until she was 16 when she was also diagnosed with arthritis - she had this everywhere, bless. The two brothers that I have at the moment are a bit of a handful, rescued them at 6mths and am so pleased I did they are so full of energy (well until this latest bout of illness) love 'em to bits. Now you know why 'cats' is at the top of my interest list :)
