A chip is under the skin, but not into the muscle. Thats why they move around sometimes.

To remove one, you'd still have to cut quite deeply. Only a crook would do such a thing.

Yeah he's going to the vet primarily to get the wound seen to, the chance of him being stolen is really just a worst case scenario.

The idiot that had him before us left the wound open for at least a month by the looks of it, and treated it with domestos and toothpaste.

Well i always thought they was small! vets always refer to there size as a grain of rice LOL.

I never knew it was that easy to remove them..we have a micro-chip scanner here that brings up there chip numbers..But i dont think i could tell there extact location of them from it..But i woundnt want to remove them LOL

Michelle there not that deep..

My vet recommends a bleach solution. But not for servere wounds. (never heard of toothpaste being used)

Good luck at the vets. Get them to run a scanner over him, just incase they looked for a chip and didnt find it.

When you run the scanner over, have a good feel where it beeps. Oscar sits just infront of his shoulderblade, and i can twist it between my fingers. Its about 1cm long. Alfies its still between his shoulder blades.

i have never heard that either....the bleach solution....i would honestly get him to the vets he obviously needs treatment.....

Neat household cleaner is what was used daily, if your vet thinks that is okay he should consider a new career.
