Re: R.i.p kane (bearded dragon)
oh i'm so sorry for you! please never buy from pets@home, please see my thread here to see what i am talking about:Idiots @ pets@home
and PM me for proper bearded dragon care. (by proper i mean not what the pets@home staff tell you) if you arre anywhere near bexley in kent i have eggs in the incubator if you want a healthy, happy little kane 2 from healthy, happy parents who you can see if u want . pets@home probaly didn't give much calcium to Kane's mother during pregnancy, knowing them - causing himto not form ptoperly.and were Kane and Lynch both male? two males will fight to the death. it was all pets@home's fault... |

Re: R.i.p kane (bearded dragon)
Although im completly against buying from pets@home (tbh my 2 rats are from there and thankfully ive never had an issue with them, but never again), its a bit off for you to be putting the blame entirely on them.
Runts, bad eggs etc are a fact of life, they will happen, even to the best of breeders. Ive got a runt, shes 18 months and no bigger than a 4 month old. The breeder is well known. Granted most 'abnormal' youngsters will die at a young age, but it happens to everyone. Im a friend of an ex Pets@home employee. They were all sent on relavent courses before the animals were brought in, and although not enough, its better than them going in blindly. As far as im aware, they never bred on site, so its a possiblity that the beardie was brought in from a breeder. I know a lot of people are against them ( i dont like them as theyre a big corporate company, and SOME are purely cruel) but its not right to say - every animal from there will die, or if your's die its their fault |

Quote:
Individual breeders don't have to make as much money as P@H to stay in business, and no reputable breeder breeds just for the money. A breeder will outline any genetic or physical defects to the buyer and will state that any potential buyers are buying the affected animal entirely at their own risk. Sure, P@H staff may be sent on a few courses for a certain period of time, but these courses are nothing next to years of solid experience. Most P@H staff are young, inexperienced and have absolutely no idea what to do when an unfortunate customer comes in with a problem. A good breeder will know the animals inside and out and would probably refer the customer to a vet, whereas P@H staff would just shove the customer off with one of their products. |

Re: R.i.p kane (bearded dragon)
When i bought my beardie, no one told me of the 'genetic defect', in fact if the breeder didnt see the post on RFUK i would be none the wiser.
All im saying is i think everyone is quick to blame the company when there are plenty of other factors that are involved. |
