Advice for newbie.
After some thought me and my boyfriend have decided to get a lizard. After many hours of looking on the internet at the different types and what each require we are still a bit confused about what would be the best to start off with.
We would like one that is easily tamed and that doesn't mind being handled. Although we are both very patient and wouldn't mind taking time to tame it. We are round during the day and early evening mostly so a lizard that is mostly active then would be ideal. Also one that is fairly easy to look after would be good to. Were going to decide on tank etc after we have decided which one to go for. Although we do have enough space in the house to have a rather large tank. Any help and advice would be great. |

Re: Advice for newbie.
Beardies are a great way to start with lizards, friendly little souls
![]() Look around on reptile sites to pick up equipment and also your Beardie .......... there should be many peeps with Beardies for sale and they will be cheaper than pet shops and generally breeders on forums have a greater knowledge of their animals and will give you loads of great advice ![]()

Re: Advice for newbie.
nooooo chuckwallas
i know im biased coz i have 5 and am going to breed again this year hopefully with more success. they are herbivores so no nasty bugs smaller tank than a beardie and mine are lovely they dnt have all the spikes that beardies do and actually beg to come out . I have one of my young males for sale they are expenisive £140 as they are difficult to breed in captivity and are mainly from the US from their captive breeding or wild caught stock. more info on a link on my website.![]() thats the boy for sale, he needs a bit of handling as his previous owner didnt handle them early enough, but he is fine once u have him its the initial picking up he doesnt like ![]()

Re: Advice for newbie.
I would definately say that a Bearded Dragon is your best option.
I bred 102 of them last year, from 3 girls and 1 male, and then sold all but one little rescued dragon. They are friendly, low maintenance, and easy to look after. There's so many different types too, so there's a Beardie to suit all tastes =] The initial setup can be a little expensive, but after that they're fairly low cost to keep, and make brilliant pets. Are you thinking of getting more than one? And do you want a baby, or an adult? Feel free to PM me with any questions =] x
