Chameleons....

have been thinking for like years now (lol) that id love a chameleon....

i have a space of 4 foot for a viv to go on... (and as high as wanted.)

which is my office. Its quite cold in there so i was thinking a space in my room may be better?

i have eithera 2 foot by 2.5(high) in space or the floor which is about 2.5 long and as high as wanted....

i was thinking of having a smaller tank to start with and having pygmy dwarf chameleons....(on my room 2 foot surface).... but not 100%

if those out there with chameleons can reccomend a type which would be suitable for a beginner id appreciate it

p.s im happy to feed live foods as i did this at college lol.. so not a complete begineer i guesss...?

Re: Chameleons....

To be honest ive always been told that cameleons are not good as a starting reptile or for a beginer. There one of the harder lizards to care forand if done incorrectly can be detremental to there health and bones. Have you kept lizards before.?? Id go tallk to a reptile owner and sak as much advice as poss or visit a reptile shop and have a look at the care etc they will require. Theres also a retile magazine that can be ordered from most newsagents i think it comes out once a month. Think its called Reptile keeper.. The main thing is to do loads and loads of research as you can. If you have done this already then im sorry for pointing out the obovius. Good luck..

Re: Chameleons....

thanks

ive handled types of lizards/snakes at college ive fed them and cared for them so i know what involved.

My friend is extreemly good with reptiles.... but i wanted lots of other opinions too. Any 'issues' i can ask him too so thats good

I was going to have a look round our local reptile shop in the next week or two aswell

but dont plan to do anything for a few months until research is done pr operlyas i might find they are not for me anyhow (ability wise )

Re: Chameleons....

At least your not just jumping in as many do, its good to get as much info and experience as poss which sounds like your doing. There gorg repitiles along with beardies, good luck im sure your be fine with help from your friend. I have kept lizards my self but have never owned a camerleon due to the care involved i didnt consider my self to have enough knowlege on them.

Re: Chameleons....

Iguana Are Lovely But Are Bigger Than Most Think Topping At Nearlly 4 Foot With Tail They Need A Fair Bit Of Space And Males Can Become Aggressive As They Mature. I Can See Why You Like Them Though They Have Great Personality And They Ones That Are Friendly Are Lovely Pets.
