I kept mine in a heated cupboard in the garage, however during the summer I didn't need the heating. Once the food was ready I simply released it into the vivarium, the geckos usually mopped up most of it...

Re: New to geckos

id go with leopards, i have 7 lol, 6 famales and one male, they're very easy to care for.

i keep the 4 bigger females together and the 2 smaller ones together in a different tank, the male is kept seperate because i breed selectively, also the females are all different ages and i dont want him pestering the younger girls who arent ready yet.

they dont need masses of space, they dont climb, their diet is easy, their heating requirements are very eas (only a heat mat needed, no lights), and they're easy to handle, they are considered the beginners gecko.

your daughter should be able to care for these easily, my 10 year old brother looked after mine for me when i went on holiday lol.

if you want a detailed care sheet just pm me, i'v got one written up for the reptile shop i used to volunteer for, i'd be happy to send it to you, it covers housing, heating, feeding and other bits about general care, and any potential health problems.
