Re: scared dragon

mine is frightened to, i have only had him a few weeks though and he is supposed to be one yr old.

He used to puff his beard up and open his mouth at me but he rarely does this anymore, he hates being picked up though but i put this down to lack of handling in the past, i thought they should be fed twice a day though? if you put to many bugs in than they can eat within so many mins they can get harrassed when they try to rest???

Im new to beardies though so i cant really be sure.

Re: scared dragon

have you tried hand feeding him?? my beardie loves being hand fed, actually all my lizards do it will get him used to your hands and show him that they dont mean harm. are you going in from the top of the tank or the side?? if you are going in from the top he is likely to be seeing you as he would a bird, and attack or run to defend himself, if you can try and go in with your hand at his level

brumation is like a state of hibernation, but not complete hibernation, it is a state in which an animal stays in times when food supplies and temperatures may be low. personally i wouldnt do this unless i was planning on breeding the next spring, its not necessary.
