Re: Hello (Newbie) :)

What kind of sand is that you are using?

I bet the pet shop recommended this too hey?

Any particle substrate can cause impaction if ingested. It generally isn't used at all with juveniles, although some people take the risk with adults.

My advice would be to take him off sand straight away and put him on newspaper or kitchen roll.

Cool, where abouts? I'm in Cheadle.

Reptiles generally have specialist requirements so compared to your "normal" companion animals ie dog, cat, rabbit fish, Yes they can be difficult to look after.
But all it takes really is tons and tons of research - not just calling in at the pet shop and taking their advice.

As far as expense goes, reptiles are not cheap pets. The initial outlay of equipment and the animal itself can be a lot. Then you have feeding and mantainence costs, not to mention the increase in electricity bills.
And then there is of course, veterinary bills, which can be very expensive.

However, I love Reptiles, and they do make good pets. As long as you have all of the above covered, I wouldn't let it put you off.
