A Giant Gecko? Never heard of them. What country do you live in?

Before you decide to get an animal, it's incredibly important that you know exactly what this animal needs. That way you won't be waiting for replies on forums. Forums are great for advice though, but you should really know almost everything about it's care.

Re: giant gecko trouble

And by MRP, do you mean Diet Meal Replacement?

That should not even be on your list of things to buy. I believe it's a substitute for not feeding live insects.

Is that what you don't like, feeding live insects? A gecko, or a Bearded Dragon is definalty not for you then. No way would I feed an animal that is supposed to eat insects, and man made replacement.

There are a couple of herbivore lizards that can be kept as pets, Uromastyx being one of them. However, you seem like a reptile beginner, so I wouldn't recommend one.

Re: giant gecko trouble

actually, i've had acouple different reptiles. i need an mrp beause they are omnivours. but, they like ROTTING fruit. and that would take a little while to get it to rot. the mrp is just a supplement so they are getting all of their nutrients and vitamins. I would be feeding Pinkies, superworms, and most likely some baby food. ( they really don't like crickets) something about them makes it hard to feed for them.
its a New Caledonian Giant Gecko. And I live in the U.S.
I've done a ton of research but didn't knw what MRP to use because they don't make a giant gecko one. but, on a different forum i found out that all the giant gecko owners feed the crested gecko formula.
thanksfor the criticism though
i have owned a bearded dragon and i have had two leopard gecko hybirds. DEFINANTLY not afraid of insects.

Re: giant gecko trouble

Not too sure how that was criticism? I was asking questions to find out more.

I personally would stay away form this MRP. I would imagine a good dusting of nutrobal and calcium powder, along with the right diet is all you need?

Calcium dusting should be done on every feed.

Re: giant gecko trouble

well. after finding a gecko and getting ready for it i decided not to get one. i found some toad tadpoles that were in a drying puddle that i will raise. so, the tank is taken up for now. later on i will be getting one though.
