Dried crickets or live crickets?

Just wondering what people's views are on feeding dried crickets to reptiles instead of live crickets? I haven't tried using dried crickets and so would like to hear experiences of anyone who is using this method.

Re: Dried crickets or live crickets?

I wouldn't. Not only would most lizards not pay them any attention, but you can't gut load them and that's what's very important.

You would be very lucky if your lizard would eat them,I know none of my chameleons, geckos or beardies would.
I like to feed the live ones then at least I know what the crickets have been fed on

Use alive :P always with Lizards...a lot of lizards a good example being Leopard Geckos actually never take dead food (well you could try to make it look alive then it might take it) :P ...

Re: Dried crickets or live crickets?

we use live but my mum has said we have to go back onto hoppers cause we kept finding crickets all over the house that our beardies hadn't eaten and had somehow got out our viv. They seem to like chasing the hoppers round the viv though and its fun to watch aswell =)

Re: Dried crickets or live crickets?

yeah! let your reptiles chase after their favorite foods. don't just give them a dead cricket and just put it on their mouth. your pet might get bored.

Re: Dried crickets or live crickets?

I always feed live, as other people have said dead ones are pretty pointless

Live all the way. This is going to sound kind of sadistic, but I love seeing whatever pet I have stalk the chirpy little buggers and pounce on 'em.
