Leopard Gecko or Berber Skink?

My daughter is looking for a lizard. She wants a lizard that ain't to big yet not to small, and one that is tame, and is easy to look after.

She's done researching on both Berber Skink and Leopard Gecko.

Re: Leopard Gecko or Berber Skink?

Oh! Don't know alot about the skinks, I think the bigger skinks are similar in cost/care to the beardeds though. I think setting up a Leo initially is cheaper than most lizards, heatmat, vivarium/terrarium, caves/shelters, sand/substrate, water bowl, don't believe they need lighting unless you want to put low wattage red bulb in so you can see them. They are normally easy to handle, they poo in one corner of the tank! so cleaning is easy (I regularly clean out the corner then change the sand completely every 4/6 weeks or so. Mine normally eat mealworms every few days with occasional dusting of calcium because I hate crickets in the house but feed them occasionally (have had geckos that only eat crickets) but on the whole, once the enclosures paid for find them very low maintenance and low cost! Hope this helps
