I think this is the best way to do it so you know what you've got. The ones we looked after (I mentioned in your thread) were bought together and are male and female (they asked me to sex them for them as they didn't know) I explained to them that they would need to separate them soon as the male will pester the female and they don't want them mating anyway as they are bro and sis.
I loved it when ours had babies they are so funny to watch when you've got 28 in a viv all together!
