3D back ground

My boyfriend is making a 3D background for our beardies..
he has used polystyrene and he was wondering if anyone knew what to use to cover it.. he looked at something thats conrete based but its a bit too much
Any help?

you need to use about 3 layers of grout! then paint with non toxic paints and then seal either with pva if it's for something like a beardie or yaught varnish if it needs to withstand water. on youtube there are lots of vids showing this technique.
