Newbie with reptiles :)

Hi guys ,

I've never owned reptiles before but I am really interested in getting one (or two)

What types shall I be looking at for a complete beginner

Thanks for any information that can get me started on my research

Re: Newbie with reptiles :)

The term 'reptile' is a bit broad, there are all kinds of animals that may fall into the reptile or exotic pet category: lizards, snakes, amphibians, inverts, chelonians etc. You need to narrow it down a bit.

leopard geckos are a very good beginner pet, hardy, gentle (most of them anyway) and very simple to look after. My first reptile was a leopard gecko

Whichever reptile you decide on getting I would recommend researching the habitat and life style of it first as often the info they give you at petshops (if thats where you get one from) is pretty vague. I would also recommend buying a book on that particular reptile for future reference. I did this with my beardie and found it a very useful thing to have once I had him at home.

Yup, a leopard gecko is probably the best thing to start off with as they are quite simple to look after and don't need a huge viv or anything. Lots and lots of research, hunt out all your local rep shops and go and have a chat with the person in charge of the rep section or join up to reptile forums uk for advice and caresheets

Re: Newbie with reptiles :)

Hi Mate,

I have four bearded dragons and they are awesome. I love them and i have give name to each of them. One of them is special. He is very strong and i named him Arny.

I have written a excellent resource about my pets and i hope it can also help you.

The most important is bearded dragon diets and bearded dragon starter kit.

You can find lot valuable information.... Enjoy!!!
