Question Which type of viv?

Hiya, I'm not too clued up on exotics, but I have an assignment at college where I have to find an accommodation for my chosen exotic (I had chosen the Blue Tongue Skink) but I've had trouble finding a decent picture of a viv... then I came across this...

vivarium2.jpg

Which I think is fantastic, but I don't think it's suitable for a Skink? As they don't climb, and the basking spot is high?

Would a Gecko be suitable for this type of accommodation? If not - which type of reptile would be and I'll change my animal to that

Thanks for any replies!

Re: Which type of viv?

If no one can help I'll change my animal to a Beardie as I found this...

That would be a decent habitat for one, wouldn't it? lol

Re: Which type of viv?

My biggest concern is that both are made from glass, which is a fairly poor insulator so heat will radiate from the vivarium fairly quickly.

Glass vivariums with all sides uncovered can also make the inhabitants feel quite exposed.

The Exo terra glass vivarium you've mentioned is only 90 x 45 x 45cm. This isn't big enough for a fully grown BD, which should have a 120 x 60 x 60cm vivarium. A young specimen would be OK for a few months, but it would need the larger vivarium within a year.

Personally, I'd go with a wooden vivarium. These can be used for species that require humid conditions so long as precautions are taken to seal the edges with silicone.

That sound be ok for a bearded dragon. have you tried looking at Reptile Forums? their is plenty pics on there. I know they recommend a minimum size for a beardie is 4x2x2 but you could keep one in a 3x2x2 fine as long as it had time out daily
