big dog with sight problem

hello i am new member
i have a 16month old irish wolfhound who has only a bit of light
sensertivity in one eye and blind in his other
i would love to hear from anyone who has a dog with the same
problem
bryn is my 7th wolfhound all the rest now have sadly passed away now from cancer
I said after the last wolfie died that no more the heartbreak is to much thier
life span is so short
then i was asked if i would take on bryn he was 4months old and he was going to be put
to sleep and hes been absolutley amazing he will run around chasing
my daughters beardie cross and knows where every thing is so i have
had to stop my habit of changing furniture around
and as for having no more wolfies on friday at 6 oclock
wallace a 16month old irish wolfhound is coming to live with us
i feel like a child waiting for christmas
and as well has my heart being filled with wolfies past my arms will be filled
with another big soft wolfie bear

Hello and welcome

I am sorry I have no advice to give with bryn's eye problem, but a companion will be great for him.

Re: big dog with sight problem

thank you for your replys
i think i have phrased my request wrong what
i wanted to know if anyone had a dog that was blind
how did they cope with walking Bryn is being rather naughty
just lately
because his sence of smell is so great he can detect other dogs and people
and drags me up the road like a kite hes so strong
i have tried an halti and it phased him out
as any one else got any idears on how to stop this pulling
before i end up with arms like a chimp also he when hes excited
he goes round in circles and so do i and look stupid so i now go out under the cover of darkness
This is bryns onley fault
i have practised round the field and he walks perfect but as soon
as i hit the road he behave likes an idiot
i have never had this problem with any of my other wolfies they
walked like perfect gentlemen
i had a problem with my yorkie who used to lay flat on his back and refuse
to move That was it he was going no further till i turned back
with him though he was small enough to hide when he did this
but ben ruled every one including the wolfies with a rod of iron
he thought nothing of putting them in thier place He was a nasty peice of goods with them and they treated him with respect
i lost ben a month ago and miss him dreadfully
but my wolfies waiting at rainbow bridge when they saw him crossing over
must have disperced like the red arrow display team
