Susy is on a distinguished road
Helloooo need help please !!

Hi everyone, my name is Susy and I have 4 cats ( Jess (10 ), Ziggy (2), Mitzie (2) & Rocky(1) ) and 2 Guinea Pigs ( Fudge & Nougat ). I need some help with Rocky as he has recurrent conjunctivitis. I took him to the vets a few weeks ago and they prescribed Fucithalmic but as soon as I stopped using it, the problem returned. Read on the internet about Colloidal Silver and have used that on his eye for a week, which seems to reduce the redness but again as soon as I stop using the drops the infection returns. I am taking him back to the vets tomorrow but wondered if anyone out there had had similar problems. He is healthy... eating, sleeping etc and gets on well with the other 3 kitties, as I've also read that this is stress related. Hope he's not in pain.

Re: Helloooo need help please !!

Hello

Welcome to p/f.....poor boy, i would deffo take him back to the vets, maybe he just needs a longer course? not sure.
Maybe they could some tests? to ensure they are treating him correctly.
I thought it was highly contagious? which i am wondering why your other cats have not caught it?

Not sure if the infection is smilar to human infection, i remember having it years ago, and it was a bugger to clear up.

Do not worry too much, if he is eating, happy, and acting normal, i doubt if it is affecting him too much.
Just my guess - But i am no vet !!!!

Best of luck, Love Gilly xx

Hi there and welcome to the forum, it's a great place to get help and advice when you need it as well as meeting new people and making friends.
Have you tried bathing the eye with warm milk...it works well...just liek they tell you to do with babies with sticky eyes...just bath it a few times a day with the mik and see what happens
Obviously as well as taking him to the vets

Re: Helloooo need help please !!

Thanks to everyone for your responses. Took Rocky back to the vets this morning and they've prescribed Maxitrol steriod drops. They have taken a swap from his eye & throat to send off for analysis. Back to vets on Friday !
