Charlie The British Blue Shorthair Kitten Says Hi

Hi All,

I’m new to this site today and its ace. I have just got my first pet 3 months ago which is a British Blue Shorthair Cat. He is so gorgeous and so affectionate to.

He is defiantly a mummies boy though as he always sleeps next to my fiancée in bed and allot of the time even on top of her head or back if she is lay on the front

They say the boy cats are always more affectionate to women lol "must be a man thing"

British Blue Shorthair Cat

Hi Charlie (have already seen your gorge xmas outfit photo!)

I have 2 British shorthairs Marley (who is almost 2) and Layla (5 months). I was immediately smitten with the breed after we got Marley and now just can't imagine my life without a British (or two!) in it.

Can't wait to see more of the gorgeous Charlie!

Here are my two British babes

Hi Baby British

Your two cats are gorgeous. we are thinking about getting a friend for Charlie at some point

He is 6 months old now but not sure what age we should introduce another?

Also is it best to get another male blue or a female?

We intoduced Layla just before xmas when Marley was 20 months. It was a bit of a gamble as he had been an only house cat before then. Everything came good though and after taking introductions slowly the pair are now best buds.

Marley and Layla are proof that age doesn't neccessarily matter although you do need to take into consideration the temperament of the cats involved (BSH are generally an easy going sort though!). This said it is generally considered easier to introduce cats as kittens so maybe the sooner the better if you have your heart set on another. We had to hold out so long as Marley had a load of health problems as a kitten and we wanted to deal with these before adding to the feline clan.

I decided to pair a male with a female as I worried that there might be dominance issues with a same sex pair. Marley is neutered and Layla is due to be castrated in March so there is no danger of any mini me's!

Many people do keep same sex neutered cats together that seemingly co exist quite happily but the male/female pairing worked best for us x
