Hello and welcome!

I have two guiena pigs and a simular set up by the sounds of it, ours where the same to start with so we put their food downstairs, they soon started using it. We use wood shavings and cheap hay as apparently the cheaper the better!

Hey thanks for the reply.

So if I understand it right you donot use straw at all!

The pet shops says yes to straw, but I have been told a couple of times just hay.

Tried putting them all down the bottom today with some grass and hay, left a trail of spinch leaves up the ramp but only one seems to have found her way up.

Will try again tomorrow.
